Admission Process Beyond CAT: What Comes Next?

The fact that a student has done well in Common Admission Test (CAT) only marks the initial step to gaining entry into one of India's best management schools, the IIMs. As soon as the CAT results are released, the process of admissions enters various stages where candidates' entire profile, their communication skills, and ability to cope up with the requirements of a management program get assessed.


1. Shortlisting

3. Personal Interview (PI)


This is the PI stage, where personality, motivation, career goals, and suitability for the program are analyzed. Questions may be raised by the interviewer concerning work experience, academics, hobbies, and why a candidate would want to do an MBA.

4. Final Composite Score


Finally, a composite score is obtained based on CAT scores, academic background, work experience, GD/WAT, and PI performance. The scores are then used to determine which candidates will be offered admission by the schools, given the weightages assigned for each school.
